Introducing Blackpool Film Festival

Hello everyone – It’s been a while, but we’re still here!

We’ve been busy behind the scenes as this year, we’re realising our long term goal to ‘spin out’ WGFF into Blackpool Film Festival (BFF), an independent town-wide organisation and multi-venue festival.

Our plans include:

  • Creating an independent  organisation to run and develop the festival offer, while increasing our planning and delivery capacity.
  • Provide more meaningful opportunities for people struggling to gain film exhibition/programming experience locally.
  • Expand the number and range of screening and activity venues.
  • Provide more space and time for the screening of cultural film in Blackpool

We’ve been focusing on ways to bring in additional administration, programming, audience development and delivery capacity so that we can provide a strong base for the future.

To this end, we’re pleased to let you know that we have secured BFI support to recruit a part-time festival officer to help us develop Blackpool Film Festival and its fringe venues, and to help build our audiences.

So please keep your eyes peeled for more news as things will be stepping up soon and we would absolutely love to see you at the cinema!
