Join us at Blackpool Filmmaking Club where we’ll learn, create, and enjoy the process of filmmaking.

Come join us at Aunty Social for a creative day dedicated to all things filmmaking. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, our club is the perfect place to meet like-minded individuals, share ideas, and collaborate on film projects.

At Blackpool Filmmaking Club, you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills, gain hands-on experience, and maybe even discover your inner Spielberg.

This club is designed for passionate filmmakers aged over 16 years who are eager to develop their skills and connect with like-minded peers.

Attendees will have the opportunity to collaborate on a short film or documentary, starting with concept development and progressing through each stage of the filmmaking process.

Together we will explore pre-production planning, hands-on experience with Netflix-approved equipment during production, and post-production editing using industry-standard software. The final stage will focus on distributing the completed project, helping participants build a professional showreel and gain valuable real-world experience.

So bring along your creativity and get ready to make some movie magic!

  • Refreshments will be provided – hot/cold drinks and snacks including vegan options.
  • Please note that lunch is not provided. you are welcome to bring food or head out to one of the many local cafés and shops.

About the club host

Sessions will be facilitated by Blackpool-based filmmaker Ben Kirk. Ben is a graduate of Blackpool & the Fylde College BA Filmmaking and is currently undertaking studying for his Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Ben has worked on BFI Film Club and BFI Film Academy Blackpool and specialises in cinematography, editing and technical skills.

Ben particularly enjoys making music videos and has worked with Auger to create the experimental music video Nothing Left , the Blue Carpet BandRat Fink Jr (best known for Alien Sex Fiend, UFX and Vince Ripper and the Rodent Show) and the Boneyard festival. and Blackpool Comedy Festival. He has drawn influences from the work Shawn ‘clown’ Crahan, Rob Zombie, and Tim Burton to developed his signature dark visual aesthetic.

More recently Ben has been developing promotional videos for theatrical productions, such as Black Liver’s Deviled Eggs and Blackpool Comedy Festival.
